After doing a backup, if you navigate to your ¿Documents¿ folder on the external drive and attempt to access it, the operating system informs you that you do not have sufficient access privileges.



1.Navigate to the "Documents" folder on the external drive using the Finder.

2.With the folder highlighted, go to the "File" menu in the Finder menu bar and select "Get Info".

3.In the dialog that comes up, click on the disclosure triangle that corresponds to "Ownership & Permissions" to open that section of the dialog.

4.Next click on the disclosure triange that corresponds to "Details" to open that section up.

5.Click on the padlock icon. You will immediately be prompted to enter your password. You should enter the password for the user that your are currently logged in as.

6.Using the series of popup menus, change the item labeled "Owner" to show your user name and set the item labeled "Access:" just below it to "Read & Write"

7.Change the item labeled "Group" to show the name "Staff" and set the item labeled "Access" just below it to show "Read only".

8.Make sure that the item labeled "Others" is set to "No Access".
